What is "Iito"?

About Us

The Name “Iito” has 3 meanings

In the Japanese Language a “Yoi Tobira” (shortened to “Iito”) is a “good door," meaning one that you are welcomed into.

Several times in the new testament (Luke 11:9-10, John 10:7-9, John 14-6) we find Jesus calling himself a gateway or a “door” to our Heavenly Father. We strive to be a place where people can come and seek teachings and guidance on how to get to know our God on a deeper level, through the “Iito” Jesus Christ.

Iito also sounds like the English Word “eat". When we eat together, we create great memories and friendships.

People bond over food and one of the original purposes of the church was not only to study the Bible, but to also eat together and fellowship. Before Covid-19 many churches all around the world ate together but as we all were forced to quarantine, this became much more difficult to do. During this time the importance of sharing a meal together became apparent. Here at Iito we cherish sharing, spending time and eating together.

Within the Hakata Dialect, the exclamation “Iito” means “yes”.

In Japan it is often said that the “step into the church is too high.” We want to create a friendly environment where whoever desires to come are able to with as few barriers as possible. So when somebody asks the question “Can I go?” the answer is “Iito!”
